Volunteer Opportunity of the Year!
Uhuru Foods needs volunteers for the Honda Grand Prix, Friday, March 26th – Sunday, March 28th.
· Make a difference
· Fun, outdoor, high energy event
· Positive atmosphere
· No experience necessary
· Complete service hours
· Meet new people
The Honda Grand Prix (indy car racing) is where Uhuru Foods holds its largest fundraising food booth of the year. We prepare, cook and sell delicious Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, italian sausages with grilled onions and peppers, hot french fries and ice cold drinks. Our booth is extremely popular and we need over 50 volunteers!
WHY VOLUNTEER?
All proceeds benefit the programs of the African People’s Education and Defense Fund, addressing the grave disparities faced by the Black community and creating programs and institutions for community self-reliance. This year, APEDF is outfitting the community center with a community commercial kitchen to build economic development, increase community commerce, and provide training. Learn more! Visit www.APEDF.org
TIME COMMITMENT:
Volunteers are needed between the hours of 8 am - 6 pm Friday and Saturday and between the hours of 8 am - 9 pm on Sunday. Volunteer all weekend, volunteer a day, or volunteer part of the day. What can you do?
PERKS:
All volunteers enjoy a free meal from our booth and after your shift, you are free to stay and watch the races (tickets are normally $45 and up)!
GROUPS/STUDENTS:
The Honda Grand Prix is an exciting, high-energy event! This is a perfect volunteer opportunity for individuals or groups, no experience is necessary. Also a great way to complete volunteer service hours!
PARENTAL INFO:
Are you a parent of a student who needs to complete service hours? Our booth is staffed by trained coordinators and all volunteers work in a great collective environment - we have rave reviews from students and parents alike! Young people under the age of 16 will need to have your permission to participate. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
